The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (RQF) provides learners with the knowledge and understanding of delivering education and training, assessing learners, planning in education and training, using resources in the delivery in education and training, and understanding the roles and responsibilities within education and training. This qualification will also allow the individual to apply for QTLS status.

Learners will achieve 120 credits across 7 units:

  1. Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
  2. Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
  3. Theories, principles and models in education and training
  4. Wider professional practice and development in education and training
  5. Developing, using and organising resources in a specialist area
  6. Inclusive practice
  7. Teaching in a specialist area

Who is this course for?

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (RQF) formerly known as DTLLS, is suitable for those who are in a teaching or training role and wish to obtain a degree-level qualification. It is also suitable for trainee teachers as well as those who have experience in a teaching role.

This qualification will also allow the individual to apply for QTLS status, which is recognised alongside QTS for teaching in schools.

Requirements

Learners must be aged 19+ years to be enrolled onto this course. You must be in a training or teaching role to be able to complete this course.

You should also be competent in literacy and numeracy to help with elements of communication. If you are unable to evidence a GCSE pass in English and Maths, or Level 2 equivalent, you may be asked to complete a diagnostic assessment in English and Maths to meet the minimum core requirements.

Career path

Upon completion, you can apply for qualified teacher learning and skills (QTLS) status and teach in schools, colleges or private providers.
